“Dream Walker” is a fantasy manga tracing the protagonist, Yume’s adventures in the dreamscape and how she develops her ability to fight against the demonic Boumas together with her mentor, Muca, the cat.
And it is produced, drawn and storyboarded in Singapore. Created by Xuan of Comicpandora, Singapore’s first female dojin artist. And no it’s not some dojinshi that is only available at Cosfest and such… It’s a real official production! Supervised by the artist of Celestial Zone, Mr. Wee Tian Beng, the title is now available at all good bookshops…
wow… in this month alone there are 2 local productions, first being Resident Tourist vol 3 and then Dream Walker… I’m so trilled! I will be heading down to get a copy of each soon, you might want to come back for a review then.
PS: Dream Walker’s cover looks very well done, Congratz Xuan on the publication of Dream Walker!
Update: Price of the dream walker is $8.05 after GST. And it’s a rather good book, just got it today. A almost pocket sized booked for easy portability… I think.
The story almost resembles most maho shojo themes with original bites to it, along with it’s cute artstyle especially MUCA.
Some of the plot can be futher explained and exploited, with better language… … cut the dialouge short and sweet… Most of the dialouge in the manga(English) are 4 lines long… making the it urh… drowsy? a hassel?
The art itself is good, with excellent back ground work and simple character design… Like Yuu, she only have her school uniform and a pyjamas… and she fights in a pyjamas, wearing only gloves, a pair of shoes and 2 sticks as weapons… nothing else outside… Simple and plain, nothing fancy and after awhile boring…
Her counterpart Ken got better design thou… Using the bracelet as weapon, it’s a wonderful idea! Loved MUCA’s design also… It’s so cute!
Remember it’s white, black, green, blue and red! Why colours? Not something cooler? ala bleach… …
Overall it’s an Ok manga. Looking forward to the next volume.
PS: Printing department or cover design don’t misled consumers please… Label it as 1st volume or volume 1, please! Not Single volume… … I thought that it’s a 1 volume release… …
So the price is SG$8.05 and it’s definately worth that much.
