AFA09: K-On! Stage-On!

It might not be the Budokan, but the K-On Girls have reached a higher plane, our Suntec Hall!
But due to the strictly no photography and videography restriction in place… I can only bring you words and some anime references. Maybe I’ll add in some related AFA09 pictures too!
Also due to me having tweet the whole session before, this will most likely be a recreation of that XD* * * Maybe with a little additional content? Just like the DVDs, Yah?

The event started out with me at the front of the audience area, since the Anisong Karaoke and Aferko demonstration just end… But the crowd came flowing in, it’s really like a water fall! Before long the whole place is flooded.

I can’t take it… So I retreated to the back of the hall. But that is good part, since it’s there that I have the area big enough to tweet from.
Reiko came out, and then does a short introduction before inviting Danny Choo onto the stage… *Note: All this while, I have a friend from the AFA09 Organiser looking at me…StreSS*

Now both MCs for the K-On! experience is on stage, Danny Choo loves K-On! and shortly after decides to bring K-On!’s Seiyuu on Stage. *Note: Until now no one in the Audiences knows who is coming and who is not… There could be only one…* Music started, the lights are flashing! And

Yui pops out of the curtains! *Note: By Yui, I mean Ms. Aki Toyosaki, because it’s shorted* The crowd goes into a frenzy roars can be heard and she said, Konichiwa! Watashi Aki Toyosaki, Yui-des! Then in English, Hello Singapore! I am Aki Toyosaki, I play Yui! Followed by another roar from the crowd in front and behind me…
That is one.

Then the 2nd, Ritsu jumps out onto the stage, with light shining on her and the audiences cheering loud! *Note: Ritsu is played Satomi Satō, and this could be the end…* Saying almost the same thing as Yui, she did, Hello Singapore! I am Satomi Satō, I play Ritsu! or something along that line…

And again the crowd roars, and the expectation builds up… Hey! another music, someone’s coming out! It’s Mugi!!!! *Note: Mugi is voiced by Minako Kotobuki*

Yah you get the idea with what she wants to say… Self intro, followed by a roar from the audiences… but I must say, their English are quite good. So she is the 3rd one… with there be a fourth or fifth?

Yes! A fourth, isit Mio? No… But she’s Azusa!!!! *Note: Azusa is performed by Ayana Taketatsu* The junior to the club and one of the Moe-est! A HUGE reaction occurred, like a piece of caesium thrown into HCL acid… Everyone wants to see her, stretching their necks and screaming out loud hoping to get her attention…

But still some are waiting for 1 more… Will she come out of that curtain?? And so we waited in anticipation… alas, it’s not meant to be… She didn’t come, Mio took MC, must have caught the cold from Ritsu *Note: Mio is sung by Yōko Hikasa and she is not sick, just trying to find myself an excuse*

With this the crowd’s flame got a bit dimmer, but still it’s hotter than that electronics’ fair next door… Not a very good comparison, but it’ll have to do… It’s short-lived thou, as if someone threw oil into fire… The crowd quickly realised how lucky they and continues the frenzy.

So another round of self introduction, audience’s roar, and then they were sent to dub for us!

1st scene, Episode 9, 7-8:30 minute: Azusa meeting the wonders of Cake scene, when Mugi, Ritsu and Yui was eating cake in the music room. Azusa came in, asking them to practice instead but she soon falls prey to the cakes… …
Not a long scene, but it’s a very well picked scene considering Mio is not around…

2nd scene, Episode 11, 7:21 to 10:10 : Gita needs to be sent for maintances , and thus they proceed to the music store. Mio was attracted by the Lefty Fair and thus easily avoided…
This is close… Mio is just a few seconds away from the scene… As for the store keepers… they are pre-dubbed…

3rd scene, Episode 13: Walking home, in the snow, wondering where to go for their next club training camp… I think I heard Shingaporu, as one of the choice… This is BONUS material!
Mio, just have to not be there… what a waste…
And so, they completed the dubbing part…

Now for the Q&A part, Danny Choo will be the asking them the questions from fans all over the world, which I don’t remember…
They got seat down, and in this order, Yui, Ritsu, Mugi, and Azusa, before they answered the question.

1st Question: How similar are you, from your character in K-On?

Yui: Aki-san responded that since she is as air headed and dreamy as Yui in the show, she can say that they are quite similar in characteristics.

Ritsu: Before K-On! She was a quiet girl, but Ritsu’s active character rubbed on her, making her more active too. She has also like Ritsu, becomes someone who given encouragements to fellow team-mates. So it’s a yes.

Mugi: She likes to bring sweets for the team to enjoy and thus in that aspect, they are quite alike

Azusa: Ayana-san loves sweets too, and thus she is similar to Azusa… But she is not as serious as Azusa….

2nd Question: Is it difficult to voice your character and what pointers do you have to take note off? *Or something along that line*

Yui: Because Yui have that high pitch voice, Aki-San tried not to strain her voice when doing Yui.

Ritsu: Ritsu is a bit tomboyish, thus Satomi-san have to strike a balance between being tomboyish but still believably hash.

Mugi: Mugi’s voice compared to Yui, Mio, Ritsu and Azusa have that slow and easy/dreamy feel to it, thus Minako-san have to also be soft and easy.

Azusa: A serious girl, that wants the club to practice more, even scolding the seniors… but still she is a junior in the club and have to act out that part too and not be too hard on them.

3rd Question: Please Tell us your Favourite line!

Yui: … … something very cute.

Ritsu: … … Also very cute…

Mugi: MOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s kinda discounted from the anime itself, and it goes like this… Mo-ichido Moe~ in Mugi’s voice this can kill…

Azusa: Meow~ The scene where they ask Azusa to wear the cat ears and do the cat’s post… Yup that scene.

4th Question: Are you similar to the K-On! characters when you are in high school?

Yui: Yup she is, since in school she treats club like we do, gather around… Have fun… Not actually training.

Ritsu: Having childhood friends and becoming jealous when they found a new friend, like when Mio found Nodoka.

Mugi: Remember the scenes in the episode 11, when Ritsu got sick. And thing cannot be done without him/her. She had a similar experience in high school…

Azusa: A member of the go home club… But it is still similar, the way walking down the road with friends and chatting away.

5th Question: If you are not a seiyuu, what will you be?

Yui: Something that uses her voice.

Ritsu: A Library Storytelling volunteer, a childcare teacher or a introducer at the zoo. Bottom line, something that uses her voice!

Mugi: Her dream is to use her voice and becoming a seiyuu is like her dream come true. But if she cannot become a seiyuu, she wants to do something creative. Like being a Make-up artist or a stylist.

Azusa: She wants to become a detective to catch bad guys!

*Note: I think I heard some of the answers wrongly… You might wanna goto j1m0ne’s site for a 2nd opinion.

Yup folks, the last question was asked and the responds have been rather Kawaii, especially the Favourite line part… I sure hope an event DVD will be made… Cos I want to remember it… Btw it has not ended… Continue?

Yah, Ok now for the local favourite, Lucky Draw!
Here is how it works each seiyuu will announce 1 seat number and the lucky person seating on that will get a signature whiteboard of that seiyuu, that even the Media will never get…

Yui: I-28

Ritsu: M-35
Azusa: A-18… eh… no one?! Really? wow… … Again! C-31!

Congrats to all the winners and I sure hope they are happy with the board they got. Now for the last words of the K-On! seiyuus.

Yui: In episode 12, there is this line, K-On! Daisuki! This is what she feels right now, she hopes everyone will also adopt this tag line too!

Ritsu: She gave a very emotional speech saying how K-On! changed her life for the better and also bring her to Singapore to see us. She wants to come back to Singapore soon!

Mugi: She is fortunate to have encountered K-On! and came to Singapore.

Azusa: This is her first time travelling out of Japan, and she is glad it’s Singapore, since she gets to see us!

Oh so meaningful their speech are that, I am remorseful for not having master Japanese to fully translate their words… but relies on Danny Choo and Ms. Reiko to do the translation…

And so, the K-On! experience ended and the hall is quickly emptied… as the fan went ahead to snatch up the remaining K-On! merchandise.
