Manga & Animation Department.

Previously known as the Manga Drawing Division, we are now called the Manga Anime Department or M.A.D for short…

Our goal is to promote Manga and Animation(anime, cartoons, 动画) art, allowing more people to enjoy these new ways of telling a story and understand the range of activities involved with Manga and Animation from the arts involved with drawing process to the process of how the artist or director chooses to tell a story.

Manga Drawing Classes

What You Need To Know:

Intermediate classes will gear you up to do sequential art or full illustrations, and how to make your works even more presentable than it already is. linework and sketching, planning, proportion work, light source, shading, equipment selection, facials and moods, everything will come to play and will be explained in further detail in these classes.

Advanced classes will commence right after the intermediate component is completed (ETA for intermediate class is not known… it will take however long to get you all to the industrial standards, or the generally accepted standards) this is where you polish your skills even further, and where i will join you also. everyday is a review class, and critique is part and parcel of the lesson plans.

All these are to gear you up for upcoming projects and also for future projects, where you will be able to better represent the club and bring its name foward (as well as building up your portfolios kekeke…)

oh come on, dont feel so scared. it cant be anything bad right? its just classes, just that more things will be taught… =/

Okay in those classes, expect not to be taught seminar style like you have been always learning from this semester (me, marcus, tyson stand at the front of the lecture theatre and teach, and talk, not much participation and not much enthusiasm was noted lulz…) the classes will be conducted in a course like manner, where mistakes and inconsistencies will be pointed out immediately, and you will have to correct yourself. the attitude will be a little more serious, as the aim is to be able to push as many of your drawing styles to generally acceptable industrial standards (think of those illustration studios and what they are doing right now… thats right, thats our aim)

This will benefit those who want a more serious coaching into drawing manga and developing your style along the way. expect to be practising nearly 75% of the time, and 25% of the time to be for critique, tutorials, and etc. (those who plan on going to the class to play PSP and computer games for a large portion of the work and lesson time need not come for these classes. i WILL set aside some time for us to play games and stuff like that because even i need to play games too, but for those not willing to treat drawing seriously, i suggest you dont turn up at all. i’d rather teach a few dedicated people than mess around with an entire large group of un-serious people…)

Did we charge you any fees when you first stepped into manga dept? Well i remember stating course fees… but you know what… you can just f*.*k that… lessons will be free… I will conduct them, and draw along with you. yes draw illustrations with you so when i make mistakes you can scold me also, like how i will be lecturing you on badly done drawings.

so to cut the crap short (i just wrote a wall of text just so i can relief stress and to state my point clearly. -______-)

Days :

Mondays and Wednesdays. Fridays (only if theres popular demand and will be decided every wednesday)

Time :

Mondays – 11am to 4/5pm

Wednesdays – 10:30am – 4/5pm. we will go somewhere for dinner if theres demand. we will also hang out and chill somewhere if theres demand. we will also decide if we want friday classes for that week.

Fridays – 11am to 2:30/3pm

Venue:

Classrooms will be booked. Even if we dont turn up on friday, classrooms for friday will still be booked anyway. and i am planning to use T2013 T2014 or T2015, as always.

What we will do:

begin intermediate class. short tutorials will be given, and classes will be conducted in a “small group” format, whereby you form small groups and work in the group. discussion is encouraged, and referencing is also encouraged. we will be drawing a lot and the demand for performance and achievements will be higher (1 day must finish 1 illustration just to quote some esamplars…)

What we will finally do:

after much training, we are going to have to begin working on production, items for sale… because this time we are serious in getting some products made, and to test what you have managed to train up and learn.

What to bring:

everything that you have been bringing so far. but be prepared to invest (if you reeeeeeally wanna buy more pencils… or charcoal, and end up like teesung)

How much $$$:

enough for yourself… though… you might wanna bring extras on wednesdays… cuz we might… uhrr… chill out and stuff at the end of the day…

just come for classes during the holidays, thats all. unless you have internship, ITP, attachment. if you want parttime work, work weekends (like what i am planning on doing… though that means there goes my WoW raiding times… SUNDAY!!!) if you reeeeeally insist on working parttime then idk… you better be at least marcus/get/tyson/try/jeno/fah/charissa/dennis/ryan standard first then we’ll discuss the details…
